XCMG goes with Safetylift

Chinese manufacturer XCMG has appointed SafetyLift Netherlands as its aerial work platform distributor/sales partner for the Benelux region.

The Dutch company will hold new machines in stock for both inventory and demonstration, with responsibility for sales, service and the supply of replacement parts for all XCMG work platforms in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
The contract is agreed (L-R) Hans Aarse of XCMG with Jan van der Meer of Safetylift, along with Edwin van der Laar of XCMG, Nils van den Berg of Safety Lift and Raymond Zhou of XCMG

The current chief executive and major shareholder of Safetylift, Jan van der Meer established the company in 1995 as the exclusive Hinowa distributor for Benelux, under the name Hinowa Netherlands BV. He changed the name to SafetyLift in 2014, reflecting the move to offer a wider range of access, adding Airo self-propelled lifts and Socage truck mounts and locally built Hyrax crawler booms.

SafetyLift has delivered almost 2,000 Hinowa spider lifts and other tracked machines in the 28 years since, with most Dutch rental companies having units in their fleets along with many end users. In 2016 Jan van der Meer and co-owner Nils van den Berg set up a new wholesale rental company - Safety Rent BV - rent machines to other rental companies when they need extra lifts to cover seasonal peaks or major contracts.

The two companies moved into a brand new, state of the art premises with workshops and spare parts warehouse in Nieuw-Vennep, south of Amsterdam on the road to The Hague. The first XCMG deliveries to arrive with Safelift include slab electric scissor lifts up to 40ft, the 46ft articulated booms along with 86ft and 125ft telescopic lithium battery electric boom lifts.

Jan van der Meer said: “We are most happy to have reached this agreement with XCMG after extensive, but pleasant negotiations. It is an ideal expansion to our product range and are confident of winning a substantial market share with the XCMG products of which there are now more than 50 models, including the new mega boom with a 70 metre working height.”

His business partner Nils van den Berg added: “XCMG is a great addition both for our sales and rental portfolio. We are also in the process of renewing our rental fleet, with a focus on sustainability and electrification. Besides that, it will enable us to create a demo fleet.”
