UK crane rental company Bryn Thomas has taken delivery of its fourth 150 tonne Grove GMK 5150XL All Terrain crane.
The five axle crane has a seven section 68.7 metre main boom - one of the longest on a crane under 200 tonnes. The crane can lift 8.1 tonnes on the fully extended boom, 9.4 tonnes at 66 metres and 12.7 tonnes with 60 metres. It has been equipped with the 16.2 metre bi-fold swingaway extension and can carry up to 10.2 tonnes of counterweight within 12 tonne axle loadings and up to 30.9 tonnes in the UK where 16.5 tonne axle loads are possible.
The initial three Grove’s were delivered in November 2022 with the newest machine arriving late last week.
Operations Director Nic Hutchison said: “These cranes run with an interchangeable ballast and can go up and down the range, which means it’s more versatile for our Grove fleet. Our newest Grove crane is a perfect investment to grow our longer boomed sector of our fleet. We are really looking forward to the four new GMK 4080L’s that are due to be delivered within the next few months.”
Based in Flint, north Wales, Bryn Thomas operates from three other depots in the north of England - Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle. Bryn Thomas and sister company BJW Cranes run a fleet of around 70 All Terrain, city type and mobile tower cranes ranging from 15 to 500 tonnes from six depot locations. It also operates an industrial division with heavy duty loader cranes.

For a crane like this they are going to require a top crane operator, preferably a really good looking one.
