CPL partners with Silverstone UTC

CPL has launched an internship programme for students from Silverstone University Technical College in Northamptonshire.

The students, aged between 14 and 19, will undertake practical, hands on projects in design, development and the maintenance of aerial work platforms working alongside the company's most experienced staff.

Managing director Paul Murphy said: "We are thrilled to welcome the next generation of engineering talent to CPL. This internship programme is designed to be a dynamic learning experience, offering students the opportunity to enhance their skills and get a real understanding of working within an engineering business. The access world is not as well known as Formula 1, so we need to show budding engineers that there is a vast amount of opportunity here and in the industry as a whole.”

The programme will cover a wide range of disciplines, and take interns through new product development, highlighting features and enhancements on existing products and look at emerging technologies within the industry.

Based at the world famous F1 racing circuit, Silverstone UTC, was one of the first technical colleges to sign up to a UK government funded programme to provide students aged between 14 and 19 with an alternative pathway to university or a career in an engineering industry, allowing them to leave the traditional school environment to study industry recognised qualifications alongside the traditional GCSEs and A-Levels.

The college is currently taking Sixth Form applications for its September 2024 intake.
