Domenico Ciano 1973 - 2022

We have only just learnt the sad news of the death of Domenico Ciano, the former chief executive of Raimondi tower cranes.

He passed away just over 18 months ago on the 19th of June 2022, at the age of 48, barely a year after he had stepped down as chief executive of the tower crane manufacturer in order to undergo treatment for a cancer diagnosis. He leaves behind his wife Cettina Iaconis and daughter Diletta.

Domenico Ciano began his career in 2002 as a mechanical engineer with Italian self-erecting tower crane manufacturer Vicario Gru, leaving after seven years with the company to join Terex as manager of its self-erecting tower crane line.

After two years with Terex he left the crane industry, taking a job with high temperature chemical bonding specialist Plasmec, where he was appointed technical director. In 2014 he clearly missed the crane industry and joined Raimondi as technical director, shortly after it had been acquired by KBW Holding. In 2018 he was promoted to chief operating officer, moving up to chief executive eight months later. He stepped down due to ill health in July 2021, hoping to return to the business, following treatment for cancer. Sadly, he never made it.
