Grove GMK5150XL for AAYM

French rental company AAYM (Activités Armor Yvan Manutention) has taken delivery of a 150 tonne Grove GMK5150XL All Terrain crane.

The five axle crane boasts a seven section 68.7 metre main boom with a capacity of 8.1 tonnes when fully extended, 9.4 tonnes at 66 metres and 12.7 tonnes at 60 metres. One of the longest booms on a crane under 200 tonnes, it can also be equipped with the 16.2 metre bi-fold swingaway extension. The GMK 5150XL can travel with up to 10.2 tonnes of counterweight on board while keeping within 12 tonne axle loadings.

The new crane, the second Grove in the company’s fleet - the other being a 300 tonne GMK6300-1 - went straight to work loading building materials onto a factory roof.

Founder and chief executive Yvan Martin said: “We really appreciate our new model for its innovative features and high quality detailing. It’s got a long boom for a five axle crane, strong load charts, great taxi crane capabilities, and good manoeuvrability on tight jobsites. We equipped the crane with several optional extras, including the MAXbase variable outrigger positioning system, a wireless remote control, and a birds-eye view camera. It’s a very impressive crane.”

Established by Martin in 2001, AAYM is based in Lamballe - South west of St Malo, Brittany, with depots in Saint-Brieuc and Rennes. It operates throughout Brittany and north west France offering crane rental, heavy transport, rigging & installation as well as heavy recovery.
