UK based McGovern Crane Hire has taken delivery of a Liebherr MK 140-5.1 mobile self erecting tower crane.
The five axle MK 140 can take its eight tonne maximum capacity to a radius of 12 metres and a hook height of 36 metres. With the jib in ‘trolley’ mode, the crane has a jib tip capacity of 1,900kg at 58.5 metres radius and a hook height of just under 40 metres. It can also be used in luffing mode with a range from 20 to 70 degrees to achieve a maximum hook height of 94.4 metres or a maximum radius of 65 metres with a 1,000kg capacity.
Director, Kieran McGovern said: “We’re excited to welcome the MK 140-5.1 to our fleet. Since returning to the tower crane market in 2017, we’ve successfully built a steady customer base by providing modern, safe, reliable and high quality mobile tower crane hire, addressing the crucial industry demand.”
“Owning one of the UK’s first MK 140-5.1 further cements our market position by providing the latest technology to our customers. The improved charts in 15 and 45 degree luffing are a great addition to the crane, allowing us to take on even more complex projects. That coupled with the impressive VarioJib option gives us an unrivalled edge when it comes to the more complicated works. This is the first of four new Liebherr's due to arrive in 2024.”
Established in 1995, family owned McGovern Crane Hire is based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire - between Nottingham and Derby - and has built the business steadily over the years, initially with used cranes, adding its first new crane in 2005 to celebrate the company’s 10th anniversary.
Today the fleet ranges from a 3.2 tonne Jekko SPX532 spider crane up to a 230 tonne Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 All Terrain and everything in between including self erecting mobile tower cranes.
