The lift has an eight metre working height with a 400kg unrestricted platform capacity. The platform is 3.2 metres long by 2.2 metres wide and is equipped with a traversing deck which provides up to 500mm lateral extension on either side of the chassis. The unit can be used with or without the four inboard levelling jacks.

The tunnel lift can work on grades of up to seven degrees and be driven at creep speed from the platform. Power comes from a regular PTO driven hydraulic pump on the chassis or an board battery pack for zero emissions and low noise levels.

The company says that the first units have been delivered to a specialist tunnel maintenance company, which it declines to name, but adds that the concept can be customised to meet the specific needs of the buyer, with working heights up to 10 metres and platform capacities up to three tonnes when mounted on larger trucks. The units Safi has delivered so far were mounted on a Mercedes chassis, but it can also be installed on Iveco, Maxus, Isuzu or VW trucks.

Founded in 1961 by chief Fiorenzo Sartor Safi, in Cornuda, Treviso, northern Italy, to build rack & pinion mast climbers. The is still located in the town, but also has facilities in nearby Pederobba and Stanghella – between Farrara and Padua. Products now include hoists, mastclimbers, truck and van mounted lifts, trailer lifts and firefighting appliances.
