German rental company Safar has taken delivery of a 220 tonne Tadano AC 5.220-1 All Terrain crane.
The five axle features a 68 metre, seven section main boom with a range of extensions including a 10.9 metre swingaway extension which can be extended to 36 metres for a maximum tip height of 108 metres. The entire extension offsets by up to 40 degrees. A three section luffing telescopic extension/jib which offsets by up to 60 degrees, is also available. The maximum counterweight is 71 tonnes.

Managing director of Safar, Hendrik Eich said: “Without any counterweight, it’s a remarkably cost effective 100 tonne crane that can get to its destination without needing any additional transportation vehicles. With 11 tonnes of counterweight, it’s a versatile 130 tonne machine. With the full counterweight, it becomes a 250 tonne powerhouse.”

Based in Frankfurt, Safar was established in 1973 and now offers cranes, heavy haulage, clean up services includeing roads and oil spill removals from six locations in the Rhine Main region with around 250 employees.
