A first for Smart

UK based Smart Platforms has taken delivery of the UK's first all electric Klubb E-tech KL26 truck mount, along with six KL21b truck mounted platforms from CPL platforms.

Mounted on a 3.5 tonne Renault electric powered chassis,making the KL26 an all electric van mounted platform. It offers a working height of 11.8 metres and an outreach of 6.5 metres. The unit will initially be based in at Smart's depot in Birmingham.

Mounted on a three tonne Renault Trafic chassis, the KL21b’s are diesel powered with a maximum working height of 11.2 metres and six metres of outreach. The six new units will be spread across Smart's locations in Hemel, Hempstead, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Dartford, Bristol, and Southampton.

Managing director, Jo Rogers said: “Smart platforms have always been and will remain committed to continuous improvement in all areas of our business, these two new van mount models are just the latest additions to our self drive rental fleet, in line with that core principle. We work closely with our customers to provide a variety of access solutions to the everyday challenges they face; we are very excited about what the future holds for these two new product lines.”

Paul Murphy, CPL’s chief executive added: “The KL21b was developed in partnership with Smart Platforms, they needed a solution that fitted within their customer's budgets without sacrificing performance or efficiency.
