Gen two Jekko - JF545.2

Italian spider and mini picker crane manufacturer Jekko is launching a new second generation version of its15.5 tonne JF545 articulated tracked spider crane, the JF545.2. Hopefully you will be able to see it at Vertikal Days in two weeks time, in the meantime here are the details.

Jekko says that the JF545, launched in 2017, and was the first unit to emerge after Fassi bought into the company in 2016, has been one of its most popular models in its big crane range. It retains the same six section boom and seven section jib- with manual section - for a maximum tip height of 32.5 metres at which it can handle up to 450kg, and a maximum radius of 30 metres with the same capacity. It can also handle 450kg with the boom fully elevated and the jib horizontal for a radius of 16.5 metres at an up & over height of 19 metres. The jib can also be raised 20 degrees about the horizontal main boom.

One the most noticeable changes on the new model is the Variable Speed Engine Management, matching the engine speed to the functions commanded by the controller for faster, smoother and more precise operation and reduced fuel consumption. The operator can also choose from three working modes – Eco, Normal or Power match power output in different ways, to suit the application. All engine information such as RPM, fuel levels and remaining operating time remaining before refuelling are fully available on the crane’s main seven inch touch screen display. The new control panel is waterproof to IP66 levels and features an intuitive interface and a wider set of functions.

A three phase plug in electric motor is also available for working indoors or in noise/emission sensitive areas. In terms of the crane’s structure, the three section outriggers and hydraulic system have been redesigned, with improvements in the number of different set ups and crane positioning. The crane has an overall width of 1.84 metres, an overall height of 1.83 metres and is 5.83 metres long when stowed.

A dedicated electric powered hydraulic oil cooler has also been added to maintain an optimal oil temperature, increasing system performance and reliability. The crane’s engine is also equipped with a new DPF filter with automatic management to minimise emissions.
Options also now include a low temperature pack with a pre-heating kit for counties that suffer from extreme cold. A work platform is also available with a maximum working height of 32.2 metres and a platform capacity of 200kg.
