MD for Heavy Lift Projects & Port Services

Notus, the UK based contract lift and heavy move group has set up a new heavy lift and transport business - Heavy Lift Projects & Port Services.

The move takes the group back into the heavy lift market, which it sort of exited in 2022 when it sold Notus Heavy Lift Solutions to British Engineering Services.

The new company is a subsidiary of Notus Industrial Services, itself a division of Notus Contract Lifting, and will be managed by Liam McLoughlin as managing director, who also owns a stake in the new business. Notus director and shareholder Scott Mitchell is also a director. While Heavy Lift Project & Ports Services will mainly focus on Heavy Lift and Transport Services, it will also offer Breakbulk & Project Cargo, New Power & Energy Storage Projects, Industrial and Commercial Storage and Project Management
Liam McLoughlin

McLoughlin joins the business from Baldwins where he has been a project director for the past three and a half years. He began his career in 2000 as an apprentice aircraft maintenance engineer, after he completed the apprenticeship in 2004, he became an aircraft engineer with SR Technics. In 2008 he moved to bulk storage and handling company Portasilo, working his way up through from engineering coordinator to senior team leader seven years later. In 2015, he joined Collett as a project manager and was promoted to senior projects manager the following year and then head of projects, leaving for Baldwins in 2021.

Speaking of his new challenge McLoughlin said: “I enjoyed my time as project director at Baldwins, helping to establish the Project Division and get involved in some exciting jobs. Client engagement and delivering value was centric and I believe that this can be expanded on with Heavy Lift Projects & Port Services, a dedicated Project & Port services provider.”

“Our aim is to provide safer, smarter, more cost effective solutions to the lifting, transport, and marine sectors. With the addition of our new storage facilities, we are also able to offer an end to end solution to our customers. Our team comes with a wealth of experience and have the skills to deliver complex lifting, transport, marine projects and being a subsidiary of Notus Contract Lifting from whom we will lean on for their expertise in the crane and contract lifting field, means we are entering the market with a trusted and well-established brand.”
Scott Mitchell

Notus managing director Scott Mitchell added: “We are delighted to have Liam on board with this newest venture, he brings years of experience with heavy cranes and project management and will be instrumental in our growth plans to further expand our service offering to our clients from our group of companies.”
