Liebherr has delivered a new STS – Ship To Shore container crane - to PSA Penn Terminals in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The 66 tonne crane has a 35 metre lift height, with 48 metres of forward outreach, an 18.29 metre span, and 15 metres of back reach. It is expected to significantly boost operating efficiency and capacity at the terminal.
The new crane joins two existing models at the Philadelphia terminal which were commissioned in 2018.
Declan O’Sullivan, the general sales manager for Liebherr Container Cranes in Ireland, said: “Our first container crane delivery to the USA was in 1978, and since then, we have continued to supply high performing cranes to meet the needs of our customers. This delivery also highlights our position as a trusted partner for US container ports.”
PSA Penn Terminals’ chief executive John Brennan added: “This new Liebherr ship to shore crane once again demonstrates our lasting commitment to being one of the best equipped, privately owned container terminals on the US East Coast. These facilities, combined with our dedicated and experienced work force, allow us to provide top-of-the-line efficient and reliable services to our customers.”
