Dutch crane rental company Kraanverhuur Tholen has received one of the first 80 tonne Grove GMK4080L All Terrain cranes, in the Netherlands.
Launched last year, the four axle GMK4080L has a 60 metre, seven section main boom with an optional 8.7 to 15 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 40 degrees of offset and manual or hydraulic luffing, for a maximum tip height of 78 metres. It can carry up to 13.3 tonnes of its 19.1 tonne counterweight within 12 tonnes axle limits or achieve 10 tonnes axle loads with 5.2 tonnes of counterweight.
The new crane went to work on the building of a residential home in Tholen, Zeeland. Company owner Jordy Weggemans said: “I was looking for a crane that could access narrow jobsites and handle jobs typically performed by a 50 t crane, with impressive load charts for jobs in the 70 t - 80 t class. A long boom is also useful for high-altitude jobs or large radii where we would otherwise need a larger crane. Grove’s GMK4080L had everything we were looking for.”
Founded 26 years ago, Kraanverhuur Tholen is located on Tholen island in the south west of the country, it runs a fleet of cranes up to 150 tonne with a focus on the building market, covering Zeeland, South Holland, and Noord-Brabant.
