Greek contractor Consolidated Construction Contractors (CCC) has taken delivery of five big Genie boom lifts, four 135ft ZX-135/70’s and one 180ft SX-180. The units were supplied through local distributor Arabian Supply Centre.
The ZX-135/70 articulated booms, feature a four section telescopic riser, topped by a two section boom and two section telescopic articulating jib, providing a maximum working height of 43.1 metres, with an outreach of 21.3 metres at an up & over height of 23 metres and a platform capacity of 227kg.
The SX-180 straight telescopic features a four section boom topped by a three metre rotating articulated jib to provide a working height of almost 57 metres and an outreach of up to 24.4 metres, while maximum platform capacity is an unrestricted 340kg.
CCC purchased the units for a project to build a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) processing plant. Once construction is complete, the machinery is expected to be used for ongoing maintenance tasks.
Sreeresh Ambat of Arabian Supply Center said: “Oil and Gas facilities have very high safety standards. Most of the steel fabrication and welding takes place at the 40 metre height range, but the confined space of the project site requires equipment with excellent up & over range in tight, narrow spaces.”
