German sales and rental company BSI has taken delivery of a 180ft Genie SX-180 boom lift, whih takes over as the largest model in its fleet..
The SX-180 features a four section boom topped by a three metre rotating articulated jib to provide a working height of almost 57 metres and an outreach of up to 24.4 metres, while maximum platform capacity is an unrestricted 340kg. The unit can also drive at full height and features the company’s Lift Guard Contact Alarm system.
BSI managing director Sven-Meyland Nielsen, said: “We already own four Genie ZX-135/70 articulating booms and Xtra Capacity (XC) models of the SX-105, SX-125, and SX-135 telescopic booms. I’ve been thinking about adding the SX-180 for a year or so, since this model was disp;ayed at Platformers Days. in 2023”
He added: “There is high utilisation and increasing demand in our region for superbooms. Project duration for this type of equipment is from a few weeks to as long as a year. The SX-180 offers a competitive advantage, as we have entered a new class that is not yet widely available on the market. It is already at its first job, and we are expecting high utilisation. A large machine like this often serves as a catalyst for our customers to rent other equipment for lower heights as well.”
BSI or Baumaschinen Service International to give its full name, is based in Dortmund and was established in July 1996 as a service company for aerial work platforms and PPM mobile cranes.
