Liebherr breaks ground in Mississippi

Liebherr has held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new $176 million logistics centre in Tupelo, Mississippi.

The new centre will provide a warehouse and operations base for Liebherr-Logistics’ operations across the Americas, providing warehousing, distribution, pre-assembly, packaging, repackaging along with customs and export services for Liebherr’s mobile, crawler, tower and maritime cranes as well as its earthmoving, concrete technology and component businesses. Additional product sectors will be added as the new facility is fully operational. The event was attended by a number of local dignitaries, including Mississippi governor Tate Reeves, Tupelo mayor Todd Jordan, Wesley Webb of Lee County and Community Development Foundation’s David Rumbarger.

The facility will initially cover 12 acres of the 74 acre plot on the Hive Business Park in the town as part of a $176 million investment, with a further 36 acres and $54 million available for further expansion if needed. The first phase of the facility will create 180 new jobs for local people and is scheduled for completion towards the end of 2026, with the first packages due to be dispatched in early 2027.

Liebherr-Logistics already has dedicated facilities in Oberopfingen, Germany - due west of Munich - and added a second warehouse in Born, the Netherlands last year covering Northern and Western Europe.
