Canadian rental company DeSantis Crane Service has taken delivery of a 180 tonne Liebherr LTM 1160-5.2 All Terrain crane.
DeSantis has purchased the crane with two key markets in mind, prefabricated concrete construction and placing air conditioning systems. For this latter work the company has specified the crane with the full suite of lattice extensions and the heavy duty 2.9 metre assembly jib.
The five axle LTM 1160-5.2 features a six section 62 metre main boom and a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with hydraulic luffing. Three additional seven metre lattice sections can be installed between the boom nose and swingaway for a maximum tip height of 104 metres. It also includes Eco Mode drive systems and the Variobase outrigger set up system, and VarioBallast adjustable counterweight.
Owner Mark Martino said: “The new 180 tonne crane perfectly closes the gap between our 130 tonne LTM 1130-5.1 and 300 tonne LTM 1300-6.2. In future, it will mainly be used to lift prefabricated concrete parts and air conditioning systems and as a taxi crane. We really like working with five axle machines because they are very versatile. The overall package of our new crane is perfect for us.”
“All of our All Terrain cranes are Liebherr – simply because we trust the brand and our customers also appreciate the reliability of the machines.”
Founded in 1997, De Santis is based in Stoney Creek on the east side of Hamilton, Ontario and runs an extensive craned fleet that runs from carry deck cranes, the Rough Terrains, boom trucks, truck cranes and All Terrains up to a 400 tonne Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1.
