Dutch infrastructure contractor Mobilis TBI has taken delivery of a new 80 tonne all electric Sany SCE800TB-EV telescopic crawler crane.

The crane features a five section 47 metre main boom topped by 10.2/17.5 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 30 degrees of offset and a maximum tip height of just over 66 metres with a capacity of 2.7 tonnes. The unit has up to 26 tonnes of superstructure counterweight plus six tonnes of carbody counterweight - three tonnes at the rear and three at the front. The all up weight is 91.9 tonnes, while the overall retracted width is 3.49 metres with 850mm track pads, extending to a maximum of 5.1 metres and with an intermediate setting.

Rutger de Jong of Mobilis TBI said: “We are working hard to improve our sustainability, in partnership with our clients, and given the impact of climate change on our industry, this simply feels like our duty. That is why we are focusing on materials and equipment with a low CO2 footprint and to reduce output of Nitrogen. This is evidenced by work in our logistics hubs and through the electrification of our equipment fleet. The purchase of a new, fully electric crane is certainly an important part of this strategy.“

“Thanks to its advanced electric drive technology, the crane delivers top performance without CO2 or nitrogen emissions. The crane will soon be operational on one of our leading projects."
Mobilis has plans to add more electric machines to its fleet over the coming year or so

Mobilis can trace its roots back to 1900 when the Voormolen business was established in Rotterdam. In 1919 hydraulics contractor Herman Haverkort started his business in Vroomshoop, to the east of Zwolle. Voormolen became part of TBI in 1988, while Haverkort was acquired in 1999 and the name of the merged contractor changed to Mobilis.

Today the company employs 475 across its offices in Apeldoorn, Nederweert and Rotterdam and works on infrastructure projects throughout the Benelux region.
