Four electric cranes for Antwerp

Belgian port operator and logistics specialist company Katoen Natie has ordered four all-electric Konecrane mobile harbour cranes - two 200 tonne ESP.9 and two 150 tonne ESP.8s - for its operations at the Port of Antwerp.

The ESP.9 has a maximum lifting capacity of 200 tonnes and a maximum radius of 59 metres. The cranes are equipped with Konecranes' Tandem-lift Assistant, enabling them to work together with a combined maximum capacity of 400 tonnes.

The ESP.8 cranes have a maximum lifting capacity of 150 tonnes and work at a radius of 54 metres.

All four cranes are scheduled for delivery at the beginning of 2026 and feature Konecranes' all-electric drive system, which combines an external power supply with rechargeable batteries, and come with the company's Truconnect remote monitoring system.

Katoen Natie's Tom Brouwers said: "We chose Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbour cranes after a thorough evaluation of the existing solutions in the market. Konecranes' all-electric drive concept is the best choice for achieving our goals in sustainable port operations while also offering a new level of performance."

Alexandros Stogianidis, Konecranes’ regional sales manager said: "This was a long-term project where we worked closely with Katoen Natie to share our experience from a decade of field operations with all-electric drives. Through detailed technical discussions we demonstrated the unparalleled combination of performance, reliability and sustainability provided by this Konecranes technology."
