Vertikal's latest recruit Imogen Campion covers just some of the highlights of her first day at her first bauma, with a number of press conferences.

The world's largest construction equipment show opened its doors this morning across Messe München's 614,000 square metre exhibition space, greeting visitors with brilliant sunshine and decidedly fresh temperatures. Traditional Bavarian dancing was the order of the day at Sinoboom where it announced its latest expansion plans including the acquisition of Holland lift. Ricardo Magni discussed its latest patents, and launched two new mid range - 3,500kg/7& 9 metre- fixed frame models to complete its full range of telehandlers, whilst Manitou unveiled several new initiatives including a hybrid range extender and ‘universal fast charger’ which the company says allows you to charge some electric telehandlers up to 60 percent within an hour.

The day was rounded off at Sennebogen's evening press event, where discussions of new machines were served alongside generous helpings of Bavarian hospitality.

Tomorrow, we kick off early with Tadano's press conference, which among other things will include the hand over of the first 1,250 tonne CC 78.1250-1
to a North American customer – no prizes for guessing, and run over several other new products.

We will publish more stories and details in the coming days. Stay tuned.
