The Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) has promoted three of its team members - Peter Brown becomes technical director, Chris Cassley takes on the role of policy director, and Katie Kelleher has been appointed as careers and development manager.
Brown joined CPA in 2016 as technical and development manager following a career spanning almost 50 years in the lifting industry. He began as an experimental mechanic apprentice in 1976, later working in technical training and product support roles before joining CITB as CPCS product manager.

Cassley has been with the association for seven years as policy manager, having previously spent 16 years with the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) where he was responsible for construction policy. He began his career in 1996 where he worked for The Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society as team administrator, leaving after four years to work as sales support at Quay Software and financial servicers before joining CBI in 2002.

Kelleher joined CPA in 2023 as technical and development officer. She joined from Select Plant Hire, having started with the company in 2014 as the first woman to join the Lifting Technician Apprenticeship, having previously worked in a variety of sales and recruitment jobs. After completing the apprenticeship, she became a crane operator, working on jobs such as Crossrail and the Tideway Project. More recently, she has worked as an Appointed Person on a number of major infrastructure projects.

Chief executive Steve Mulholland said: "Peter has the skills, experience and knowledge of working with members and stakeholders in various areas of technical guidance, standards setting and training. Chris will take forward the CPA's work on lobbying the Government and policymakers on key issues affecting the plant-hire industry. Katie is a real force of energy for positive change in construction plant-hire and her new role will see her promoting all things career related while maintaining technical support to the membership regarding all things lifting.”
