Liebherr updates RTG range

Liebherr Container Cranes has introduced an updated range of Rubber Tired Gantry cranes (RTGs) with five base models offering electric, hybrid and variable speed options.

An ERTG-CB

The range includes two fully electric models - the RTG-CB with a conductor bar power supply and the ERTG-CRD with a cable reel. Two hybrid versions are also available - the RTG-HC using super capacitors with a smaller diesel generator, and the RTG-HB with battery storage. The fifth model, RTG-VSG, features a variable speed generator for improved fuel efficiency.

All models retain Liebherr's eight rope reeving system for load stability and reduced sway, along with the company's Liduro drive system. The cranes can be specified with various automation features for full autonomy or remote operation.

An RTG-HB

Container cranes engineer Charlie McCarthy said: "Our range of RTGs offers flexibility and choice, to meet diverse operational requirements.
