A man was badly injured last week in Leesburg, Alabama - North east of Birmingham - after he was catapulted from his bucket truck /truck mounted lift, while working on a tree.
The man, Austin Hulsey, 27 was working alongside Tony Chandler of Chandler Tree Service, last Tuesday, when one of the tree segments struck the boom as it fell, bouncing him out of the platform, and causing him to fall 10 to 12 metres to the ground. We assume, from the reports we have received, that he was not wearing a harness with attached lanyard at the time.
He was airlifted to hospital where he has spent the past week in an induced coma and on a ventilator. We understand that he suffered multiple injuries including a fractured neck and back, broken shoulder and bruised clavicle, several broken ribs, and a punctured lung...His condition is now said to be stable.
