Marine crane manufacturer MacGregor has appointed Jonas Gustavsson as its first chief executive, under new owner Triton Partners which acquired it from Cargotec/Hiab in a deal that completed at the end of last month.
Gustavsson joined MacGregor in March as deputy president, having served almost eight years as chief executive of consulting engineers Afry.

A mechanical engineer by training, he began his career in production development when he joined ABB in 1995, leaving for Bombardier at the end of 1997 where he was appointed director of operations for its propulsion & controls division. After five years in that role, he moved to engine maker BRP-Rotax as vice president of operations. After another five year stint he switched to Sandvik, starting out as general manager for its tube products division, and moving steadily upwards to the post of president of the machining solutions business. After nine and a half years with Sandvik he made the move to Afry.

Leif Byström who was president of MacGregor when it was part of Cargotec / Hiab, said: “I have seen this company from many different roles and perspectives through the decades. Now I’m happy to see Jonas at the helm of the company from today onwards. With his vision and leadership, MacGregor will continue to develop for the benefit of our customers, partners and employees.”
