New owners for Sky Platforms

UK based truck mounted lift rental company Sky Platform Hire has been acquired by Nick Parham and Richard Onslow from owners Debbie and Paul Hockey in an all share purchase deal.

Sky Platforms was initially established in 1981 as a general equipment and aerial lift rental company, but after a slow period in the 1990 began specialising in truck mounted lift rental, with or without operators, it is currently based in Cullompton, near Exeter in Devon, South West England.

The Hockey’s will remain on board for a short transition period with Nick Parnham taking over the management on a gradual basis as new premises and fleet updates are organised. Richard Onslow will remain as owner and managing director of Euraccess, which he joined in 2021 See: New MD for Euraccess. Euraccess will support Sky with its maintenance and repair needs as the business grows under new ownership.

Parham said “We are delighted to have acquired Sky Platform Hire. Sky is a quality regional business that covers the south west and further afield when required. We will go through a period of relocation, rebranding and adding new assets in the next few months. Sky Platforms will soon offer operated truck mounted platforms to the height of 51 metres, self-drive chassis vehicles and tracked access, all of which will be purchased for specific contracts.”

“Further units along with a sales and training operation, will be added to the business when it moves into the new premises. Debbie and Paul have very kindly agreed to stay on for a few months to ensure the smooth handover of the business and relocation”

Nick Parham

Nick Parnham started out as a transport manager for Danzas, in 1993 joining the access industry in 1997 as an area manager with Nationwide Access as it was then. in 2002 he moved to SGB which had set up a powered access business, moving to regional access rental company AMP two years later. He returned to Nationwide when it acquired AMP in 2008 and rebranded the whole UK group as Nationwide Platforms. In 2021 he was appointed business director - South West, South East & Midlands, and market development director for parent Loxam Access the following year. in mid 2023 he moved to UK rental company Quick Reach as MD South but sadly that failed last year and is in the process of being liquidated. In fact, the last remaining machines in its fleet will be sold at auction in the next couple of weeks.
