The new LiftPod is currently available in two versions: the LiftPod 1.2 with a 3.2 metre working height and the LiftPod 1.5 with 3.5 metre work height. A 1.8 model, with 3.8 metres working height is due to be launched next year.

The new LiftPods clearly benefit from the hand of an industrial designer

The LiftPod 1.2 has an overall stowed height of 1.6 metres and weighs 180kg, while the LiftPod 1.5 is 1.9 metres high and weighs 205kg. Both units feature a 580 by 400mm platform with a 150kg platform capacity and standard tool tray. They both have an overall working footprint of 970mm x 780mm and can fold into 580mm by 760mm by 1.6 or 1.9 metres high. The lift uses the patented Power Tower manual system for platform elevation and descent.

The new platform benefits from professional designers from the DCA design consultancy, working with JLG engineers on the aesthetics of the new product, while a digital ergonomics and occupational biomechanics specialist has helped with some of the operational aspects.

The JLG LiftPod concept originated in Australia in 2007, the orginal unit has a 4.4 metre working height with a 150kg platform capacity and an overall weigh of 70kg.

Richard Puglia of JLG Europe said: “JLG has broad global experience and expertise in engineering and manufacturing products for working at height. This is a device that is so ground breaking that it needed its own newly named category - the Quick Fold Lift. It is setting a new standard for commercial application, offering an alternative to traditional aluminium equipment, with a modern, sophisticated solution, helping to address trip and fall hazards, uncomfortable climbs and unsafe processes.”

“We are extremely proud to bring a customised product to indoor spaces such as commercial shops, offices, hospitals and hotels where people are a priority. We believe that the positive changes LiftPod will help bring to staff wellbeing, safety and efficiency within these sectors will be transformative for many businesses.”

The JLG LiftPod was launched at Preventica Bordeaux yesterday which runs through to Thursday.
