60m hoist/elevator drop

We have just received details of an incident in the Havendijk area of Tilburg in the Netherlands last month in which a man, 34, was seriously injured after a tower crane hoist/elevator dropped between 50 and 60 metres.

The incident occurred on Friday September 26th while the externally mounted lift was being used by the man, a Belgian crane maintenance technician, to carry out an inspection or repair.

The major contractor and crane operator on the site is Hujmans which has made a statement of shock and regret and says it is cooperating fully with the investigation by the Labour Inspectorate, which is ongoing. details are limited and will remain so until the investigation is complete.
