Spain's first LTM 1400-6.1

Spanish crane and access rental company Grúas Aguilar has taken delivery of the country's first 400 tonne Liebherr LTM 1400-6.1 All Terrain crane.

Launched in mid 2024, the six axle LTM 1400-6.1 replaced the 350 tonne LTM 1350-6.1 and offers a six section 70 metre main boom with Y-Guy Superlift, along with numerous lattice extensions and jib options, including a 45.5 metre luffing extension for a maximum tip height of around 120 metres and an 80.5 metre luffing jib for up to 140 metres.
The new crane is handed over

The single engine crane features VarioBase, the VarioBallast counterweight system, with a tailswing adjustable from 5.6 to 7.7 metres, a basic counterweight of 100 tonnes, and up to 40 tonnes additional ballast. For road travel, the crane has an overall length of 17.8 metres and can meet 12 tonne axle loads with boom and hook block on board or carry 10 tonnes of ballast and the Y-Guying system, where 16.5 tonne axle loads are permitted.

Grúas Aguilar plans to deploy the crane from its headquarters around 20km southeast of Madrid, working across a wide customer base, including infrastructure, civil engineering, industrial maintenance, wind energy projects, and industrial construction.

Owner Luís Aguilar said: “As pioneers in acquiring this model, it underlines our commitment to continuous improvement, sustainable investment, and the ability to offer our customers innovative solutions. This new crane extends the versatility of our fleet and enables us to continue providing our customers with innovative, tailored solutions.”

Grúas Aguilar was established by the late Luis Aguilar in 1968 and is based in Madrid. Its fleet includes All Terrain cranes up to 1,200 tonnes, along with a number of large crawler cranes and a wide range of aerial work platforms, including booms, scissor lifts and truck mounts up to 35 metres. The company currently operates from four locations – Madrid, Palma in Majorca, Burgos in northern Spain and Cuenca to the south of Madrid. The company also runs a wind turbine installation and heavy haulage division.
