TUI Airways, the UK arm of international aviation group Tui, has taken delivery of 18 Multitel truck mounted platforms, including the 10 metre MS100 and 20 metre MJ201. The new machines were supplied through Milton Keynes, UK, based distribution company React Access, its largest order to date.

The MS100 is essentially a scissor-sized platform - 3.5 by 1.8 metres - mounted on a two section telescopic boom for a 10 metre working height, with a maximum platform capacity of 400kg. A 500mm side traverse deck allows the whole platform to be moved closer to the work. When operating free on wheels, it can be driven while elevated at a working height of up to six metres, with up to 250kg in the platform.

The MJ 201 features a three section telescopic boom, topped by a two section articulating jib, providing up to 12.6 metres of outreach with 80kg in the platform, and 9.8 metres with the maximum platform capacity of 225kg. The platforms will be used for maintenance on Tui’s fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

React Access worked closely with Tui to refine and define the specifications before the order was placed. The company was started by engineering directorJames Caney and Samantha Kettle, having previously worked together at Platform Sales & Hire, until it was acquired by Speedy in 2017. They were subsequently joined by managing director Duncan Howard and sales director Chris Caney.

Tui Airways is the British arm of the TUI airline group and was formerly Thomson Airways. It offers scheduled and charter flights from the United Kingdom and Ireland to destinations in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America. It is the fourth largest UK airline by total passengers carried.
