Integration appointment at Manitex

Tadano has appointed Scott Walter as vice president of sales for its US based Manitex business.

The move is, says the company, the next step towards integrating Manitex into the Tadano America organisation, following its acquisition, which completed exactly a year ago. See: Manitex now a Tadano subsidiary

Scott Walter joins the business after more than 16 years with auctioneers Ritchie Bros, where he was vice president of strategic OEM accounts. He began his construction equipment career in 1997 when he joined Ingersoll Rand as a ‘remarketing manager’- having previously spent time with the US Coast Guard. He was promoted to region manager in 2002, covering Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee, but four years later, he left the company for road machinery manufacturer Wirtgen, where he was director of corporate accounts and dealer development for North America. In 2009, he made his move into the equipment auction industry, initially with Iron Planet, where he was appointed vice president of major accounts for the US, Mexico and South America. Iron Planet was acquired by Ritchie in late 2016, leading to a minor reorganisation of territories, during which he assumed his most recent role.

Manitex managers Jeff Long, director of sales for boom trucks, bucket trucks and sign cranes, and Anthony Hampton, director of sales for knuckle boom cranes, will both report to Walter in this new role.

Dean Barley, chief executive of Tadano North America, said: “From the very beginning, we saw the Manitex investment as key to meeting Tadano’s vision of becoming the leader in lifting equipment. Since last January, we have dedicated much time and effort to enhancing our product, services and support infrastructure for customers. With this addition to the team, we are now adding an increased focus on sales. Scott has a long, proven track record of sales success and team member development. His wealth of industry experience is necessary for leading our sales teams in support of our customers’ lifting needs.”

Walter added: “I am honoured to be joining a market leading organisation like Tadano, which has built a strong global reputation for leadership in the lifting industry and delivers innovative solutions and services for its customers. Working with the Manitex Inc team, Tadano has leveraged its experience to simplify the business, equipment distributors and customers with innovative tools to ensure success and strengthened customer support by creating a laser focus on each of the key product lines. I’m excited to get to work and do my part to build on this success.”
