German roofing contractor Bedachungen Sindermann has deployed a four tonne AK 36 and a six tonne AK 48 Böcker truck mounted crane for roof renovation work at Westfalenhalle, a large events arena in Dortmund.

Bedachungen Sindermann is overseeing the replacement of the upper ring roofing below the dome with the cranes assisting with the renewal of the venue’s distinctive dome, following earlier repairs to storm damage in 2024.
The AK 48 handled material removal and lifted felt sheets and Kalzip aluminium profiles to a roof height of around 20 metres, whilst the AK 36 was used on an adjacent hall for inspection work at heights of between 17 and 20 metres.

In the coming weeks, around five tonnes of roofing battens, 28 tonnes of rock wool insulation, and the complete timber substructure will be taken out. The new roof will feature a safety seal, vapour barrier, multi-layer thermal insulation, and Kalzip aluminium covering.
