UK sales and rental company Paramount Platforms has added a 54 metre spider lift to its fleet
The new machine, which has already been out on its first two jobs, is a Platform Basket 54T, one of the largest spider lifts on the market.

The 54T features an eight section telescopic boom, topped by a four section telescopic jib, providing a maximum outreach of almost 21 metres with 136kg in the platform, or 18.5 metres with the maximum platform capacity of 400kg. The maximum up & over reach is 44 metres, at which point it has 15 metres of outreach.
When stowed with the platform in place, the 54T has an overall length of 9.55 metres and overall width of 2.43 metres and a stowed height of 2.77 metres. Total weight is 23,000kg.

It can also be converted to a spider crane with a maximum capacity of 1,000kg, which it can handle at a radius of up to 15 metres and a height of 44 metres, or 500kg at 19 metres radius and a 53 metre maximum lift height. All within a relatively compact footprint
Paramount said: “The 54T delivers the rigidity of a large truck mounted platform while retaining the access and set-up advantages of a spider lift, making it particularly suitable for urban construction, infrastructure maintenance and telecommunications projects.

Paramount director Lee Kerr added: “The 54 is city friendly. Why use a large truck when the compact setup area of a spider can minimise the need for expensive and disruptive traffic management?”
The latest addition takes Paramount’s spider lift fleet to 55 machines ranging from 15 to 54 metres. It also runs booms lifts, mostly from Niftylift, scissors, mast booms and a truck mount.
Based in Billericay, Essex – north east of London and between Basildon and Chelmsford, Paramount Platforms was established in 2009, but the directors, particularly Steve Mann have worked with big spider lifts since the early 1990s.
