Italian spider lift manufacturer CMC has appointed Stefano Di Santo as group chief executive. He joins the company from Italian truck and spider lift manufacturer Cela, where he has been chief executive since 2023.
Stefano Di Santo joined the access industry at the start of 2006, when Haulotte recruited him as country manager for its Italian subsidiary. A couple of years later he was promoted to general manager for Southern Europe and then in mid 2012, managing director of Haulotte’s telehandler division. Later that year he left the company and the access industry to become managing director of Fabio Perini, a manufacturer of machinery for the tissue industry - toilet rolls, kitchen rolls and paper napkins - part of the international technology group Körber.

After five years in the role, he was appointed to lead a group startup operation - Körber Digital in Germany - leaving in 2019 for the paper company Fedrigoni. Six months or so later he moved to industrial machinery manufacturer Ecospray Technologies as chief executive, leaving after two years to become a self-employed business advisor.
In mid 2023, he worked as an independent advisor to the Consilium Private Equity fund, when it acquired a majority stake in Cela. When the deal was completed, he was appointed as chief executive.
Alessandro Mastrogiacomo, representing the shareholder families, said: “The appointment of Stefano Di Santo was strongly supported by the Mastrogiacomo and Moretti families. In agreement with Metrika, we have identified him as a figure of great managerial stability, capable of leading CMC into a new phase of growth, strengthening its industrial and strategic positioning in the long term.”
“This decision follows the appointment of Jeff Poggi as chief executive of CMC North America last year and is part of a broader process of strengthening governance and accelerating the company's industrial and international development plan #2
Marco Giuseppini, chief executive of Metrika, the fund which acquired a majority shareholding in CMC in 2022 added: "We believe that Stefano Di Santo is the perfect fit for the CMC organisation. His experience and managerial vision will be crucial in supporting the company in its next stages of growth, particularly in terms of international development."
