Two people were critically injured on Saturday when the jib of a tower crane came crashing down onto the job site below, in Asok, Bangkok, near the Terminal 21 shopping mall in the capital’s Sukhumvit business district.

One of the two suffered injuries to her left leg, while a colleague was critically injured, lost consciousness and required resuscitation/CPR before he was rushed to hospital. Both are reported to be in a serious condition.

The crane was being used on the construction of a religious building in a busy urban area, with some of the debris narrowly missing nearby pedestrians and people sitting outside of a restaurant /coffee shop. The investigation will determine whether legal action will be taken against the contractors and/or site managers.
