PM 70.5SP for TCH

UK company TCH Logistics, sister company of Thanet Crane Hire, has taken delivery of a 13 tonne - 59.4 tonne/metre PM 70.5 SP heavy duty articulated loader crane.

Mounted on a three axle Volvo articulated tractor unit, the new crane - launched in 2023 - has a maximum capacity of just over 13 tonnes at a radius of 4.55 metres. The maximum tip height is 34.8 metres, at which point it has a capacity of 580kg, which it can also handle at its maximum radius of 31.6 metres - this with the maximum eight section boom and seven section jib, which can be raised by 20 degrees above the horizontal boom.
The new crane arrives on site

One of the new crane’s most notable features is the ‘Smart Winch’, which automatically synchronises the winch operation speed and direction with the boom and jib, functions to keep the load stable while protecting from possibly two blocking, allowing the operator to focus on the lift. The Smart Winch function can be turned off or overridden at any time.

It also includes automatic crane stowage, activated by a single button on the remote control while holding the lever, helping reduce the risk of damage to the crane, truck, or attachments during folding and unfolding, particularly when a jib or other complex attachments are fitted.

TCH managing director, Linton Stickings said: “We are building on our expertise in telecoms installations to provide specialised abnormal load haulage support services. This includes a new escort vehicle and upskilled staff.”

Based in Kent, TCH Logistics acts as the transport arm to Thanet Crane Hire, which was founded in 2008 and offers crane rental, haulage services, traffic management and auxiliary equipment rental.
