German hoist and platform manufacturer Geda is developing its IoT-Box Premium - a telematics and monitoring unit fitted to transport platforms, linking the hoist to digital platforms for remote diagnostics and usage data - developed with input from German rental company Zeppelin.
The new system interface
The system is currently on test at a site in Frankfurt and is intended to reduce downtime through remote diagnostics, reducing the need for on-site service visits. The company said it will also give users clearer visibility of hoist use, including utilisation on a given job.
Matthias Trinkaus, head of work platforms at Zeppelin said: “We have had a close working relationship with Geda in the past, and have been receiving an increasing number of inquiries regarding access systems. However, some of the solutions previously available from other providers were reaching their limits.”

“As a result, we need significantly fewer on-site service calls. At the same time, we ensure that material transport on the construction site runs smoothly - a key factor for construction progress.”
