Commercial director for Star

UK rental company Star Platforms has promoted Michelle Timms to group commercial director, with responsibility for both Star Platforms and sister company Star Power, the specialist generator rental business.

Timms joined the company in February 2025 as group financial controller following a 13 year career with Lavendon /Nationwide platforms. Her first position with the business was as a Lavendon group accountant, transferring to the Nationwide Platforms subsidiary in late 2015 as a management accountant, moving up through various increasingly senior roles before being appointed commercial director in early 2023, departing for Star last February.

The company said: Since she joined us last year, Michelle has made a significant impact, demonstrating strong commercial acumen, financial leadership, and strategic focus. In her new role, she takes board level responsibility for the group’s commercial agenda, overseeing commercial strategy and financial performance.”

Joint managing director Richard Miller added: “This appointment represents an important step in strengthening Star’s leadership team as we continue to deliver on our strategic ambitions. As we enter the next phase of our growth, Michelle will play a key role in shaping and delivering the group’s commercial strategy.”
