UK rental company Bennetts Cranes has erected installed the first 36 tonne Liebherr 620 HC L luffing jib tower crane in the country on a hotel construction site in York.

The crane - one of three that Bennetts ordered during Bauma last year - features a maximum hook height of 74.3 metres and a maximum radius of 65 metres, at which point it can handle 7,550kg. The cranes are equipped with the manufacturer's EMS-4 control system and radio remote controls.
The crane, as configured, has an out of service radius of 12.9 metres

Bennetts has configured the crane with a 45 metre jib in single-fall, allowing an out of service radius of 12.9 metres. It is positioned around four metres from the building edge, with no oversailing of neighbouring properties is permitted. The crane will be handling lifts of up to 14 tonnes within the site's restricted footprint.

Bennetts director, Tracey Pockett said: “The 620 HC-L gives customers the lifting power needed for complex projects, while helping them work safely and efficiently on sites where space is limited and oversailing must be carefully managed. It also supports more efficient installation and operation, making it a strong addition to our fleet.”

Bennetts - located in Gloucestershire, south west England - was acquired by the late Edward Seagar in 2008 and runs a fleet of tower cranes that includes Potain, Raimondi, Terex and Liebherr. It also acts as the UK distributor for Raimondi.
