First of five for Max Bögl

German construction company Max Bögl has taken delivery of the first of five 800 tonne Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 All Terrain cranes, with the four further units due to arrive between now and February next year.

The nine axle LTM 1750-9.1 travels with its 52 metre main boom and once on site up to 91 metres of lattice extensions can be added along with the Y-Guy Superlift system to achieve a maximum tip height of just under 160 metres with the main boom extended to 49 metres, a 19 metre extension between the boom nose and jib pivot point plus the full 91 metres of luffing jib.

For its first job, the new LTM 1750-9.1 was put to work in Papenburg, near the Dutch border, to erect 20 concrete & steel hybrid wind turbine towers within 17 weeks. Each tower was 86 metres high and will be topped with a steel upper tower. The work involved lifting loads of up to 56 tonnes to a height of almost 100 metres, using the crane’s 52 metre telescopic boom extended with lattice sections to a tip height of just over 100 metres.

Group chief executive, Stefan Bögl said: “Liebherr has long been our reliable partner when it comes to expanding our fleet, allowing us to meet the rising demand for hybrid towers quickly and reliably. Thanks to their high lifting capacity and rapid deployment, the newly acquired cranes are perfectly suited for use on our wind farm construction sites.”
