Norwegian contractor Hent has installed a four tonne Potain HDM 40 self-erecting tower crane at the remote summit station of the Fjellheisen cable car on Fløya mountain, overlooking Tromsø in northern Norway.

The crane proposed by Potain dealer and rental company Kranor was mounted on Custom built twin tip skis and towed to the summit using one, and at times two, tracked snow groomers.

Once at the top the crane was secured to the project’s concrete foundation. It will be used for construction of a restaurant with an outdoor skywalk located below the mountain's 590 metre summit.
Scheduled for completion next year. Materials for the build, including timber sections and concrete slabs, are being delivered to the site by helicopter.

Based in Tromsø, Kranor operates a fleet of around 150 tower cranes, including self-erectors and flat-tops.
