Crane company fund raiser

South African rental company Johnson Crane Hire, together with Tadano and its South African distributor MMS Mobile Cranes, have raised R90,000 ($5,600) for children's charity Hope Haven Home of Safety, during a golf day held to mark the rental company's 50th anniversary.

The event - held at Benoni Country Club - brought together customers, sponsors and industry partners from across the country’s lifting sector.

Hope Haven Home of Safety is a non-profit organisation based in Centurion that provides shelter, care and medical support for babies in need of care. The funds raised will go towards the charity's move to a larger facility in Highveld - planned for the 1st of September - which will increase its care capacity, along with a contribution to its Minibus Fund for transporting babies and carers.

Johnson Crane Hire managing director, Lalith Senarathne said: "Reaching our 50 year milestone was an opportunity not only to celebrate our journey, but also to give back to the community. We are proud that the golf day enabled us to support Hope Haven Home of Safety and contribute towards a larger, safer home and better care for the babies."

Former Springbok captain and World Cup winner Victor Matfield attended the event and took part in the prize giving. Tadano and MMS Mobile Cranes also displayed equipment on the day, including a 250 tonne Tadano AC 5.250L-2 All Terrain crane, along with numerous PM articulated loader cranes.

Tadano Africa business leader, Philippe Bisch said: "All credit goes to the MMS team, who organised a great event that was highly appreciated by all participants. We thank Johnson Crane Hire for the opportunity to stand alongside them during this important milestone."

Founded by Harold Johnson in 1976, Johnson Crane Hire is based in Germiston, east of Johannesburg and remains one of South Africa's largest crane rental companies wiht a fleet ranging from 20 to 750 tonnes, along with an extensive aerial lift and telehandler fleet.
