The Multitel Iberica visit (L-R) Paola Palazzani with Luigi Vitaliano, Luca Rubiolo, Claudio Teoldi, Andrea Minetti, Juan Serran, Laura Gasparini and Xavier Vega
The sales and technical teams of the three Multitel subsidiaries have already completed dedicated factory training sessions on the Palazzani range, and the new arrangements will be launched at Vertikal Days in the UK on September 9th and 10th and JDL Expo in Beaune, France on September 16th to 18th.
Multitel UK visit (L-R) Alan Fairthorn, Greg Moore, Claudio Teoldi, Ian Thompson, Laura Gasparini and Mirko Rebuzzi Multitel sales director Roberto Marangoni said: “The integration of the Palazzani range into our subsidiaries in France, Spain and the UK is a natural step in the journey that began with the acquisition. Customers will be able to rely on a single, trained and specialised sales team, capable of identifying the solution best suited to their requirements, supported by the service quality and expertise that have always distinguished Multitel.”
Vertikal Comment
This move looks as though it makes good sense, given that Palazzani has struggled over many years to find a really effective distributor in the UK and Spain. It has also faced challenges in France, but only appointed SNM in January, which has a reasonable track record for aerial lift sales and distribution.
So, while it does seem to make sense, the comment about further integration seems to conflict, somewhat, with the original statement in May, which said: “Palazzani will continue to operate independently under its own name and in its own unique style. Multitel will, however, provide back room support in areas such as production, purchasing and other strategic areas.”
It is going to be interesting to see how it goes over the rest of the year, as managing ‘integration’ well following an acquisition is an art rather than a skill, and a real challenge which is full of potential pitfalls.
Get it right and 2+2= 6 is achievable. Get it wrong, and your 2+2 can easily turn into 2+2=3 or worse.
