UK rental company GT Lifting Solutions has taken delivery of 10 units of Manitou's new 40 metre/8,000kg MRT 4080, 360 degree telehandlers, they are apparently the first units of their kind to be delivered globally.
The MRT 4080 has a maximum capacity of eight tonnes, can take 2.5 tonnes to its maximum lift height of 40 metres and can handle 180kg at its maximum forward reach of 27 metres. It also features variable outrigger spread up to 7.42 metres and has an overall weight of 27,800kg. The order was placed after the GT Lifting team visited Manitou's MRT manufacturing facility in Italy last year.
The first two units of the new telehandlers arrive with GT Lifting GT managing director Joseph Rogers said: “GT Lifting has led the UK construction industry in bringing innovative 360 degree telehandlers to market for over 20 years. We are very proud to have been the first to introduce the 26 metre, followed by the 30, 35, 39 metre, and now the 40 metre MRT 4080.”
Manitou UK business development manager, Bryonne Skelton added: "Delivering the first MRT 4080 units to GT Lifting is a landmark moment, made even more rewarding by the close partnership we have built over the years. GT Lifting continues to invest heavily in expanding their extensive Manitou MRT fleet, and this deal is a testament to their forward-thinking approach.”
GT Lifting Solutions, based in Slinfold, west Sussex, was established in 2004 as a specialist supplier of 360 degree and Heavy Duty telehandlers following founder Graham Trundell's introduction of what it claimes was the UK's first 360 telehandler, a 16 metre Merlo Roto, in 1997. By 2008, the company had a fleet of 30 Merlo Rotos, working on projects such as the London Olympics. A deal with Magni followed in 2013, bringing the first 16 tonne capacity Heavy Duty model and the 35 metre, 39 metre and 46 metre 360 models to the market.
GT Group was formed in 2019 to bring GT Lifting Solutions together with GT Machinery Sales, and in 2020 Graham Trundell became chairman with Joseph Rodgers as managing director. The business has since expanded its depot network, opening a Midlands and York service hubs in 2021, a purpose built depot at Motherwell in 2022, a further depot at Banbury in 2023 and another opened in Suffolk last year. Today it runs a fleet of around 400 machines.
