A first knuckle boom

US contractor WW Builders has taken delivery of its first articulated loader crane, a 31.8 tonne/metre PM 38525 SP with a J813.20 jib.

The crane is mounted on a Mack chassis and was supplied by Tadano distributor BTE Body company. With the J813.20 jib - available with up to eight hydraulic extensions - the PM 38525 SP has a maximum radius of 22.7 metres at which point it can handle 700kg. It can lift 7,250kg at 4.35 metres, 3,570kg at 10.35 metres and 2,230kg at 12.5 metres. Overall weight is 4,395kg. For its first job it will move materials on an Air Force base project in Arkansas.

WW Builders project executive Scott Fowler said: "This new knuckle boom and truck setup will be a great fit for our project work throughout the region. We loved the functionality and controls of the crane, the horizontal and vertical reach, the activations on the boom for tools and the Mack chassis.”

It provides construction management, general contracting and design build services, and uses its own workforce for trades including earthworks, concrete, framing, plumbing, steel erection and roofing.
