First ST440 for Star

UK rental company Star Platforms has taken delivery of one of the first relaunched Sterling ST440 Step Frame Trailers.
The ST440 was displayed alongside the company's Miniload trailer at Vertikal Days a couple weeks ago

The three axle ST440 - which recently went back into production after being halted in 2021, made its first public appearance at Vertikal Days - has been developed specifically for transporting aerial work platforms, and in particular large numbers of small scissor lifts with a maximum load capacity of 25.5 tonnes and an overall length of 13.6 metres. Features include remote control of the 3.2 metre double-flip ramps and the winch, 34 pairs of lashing rings along the sides and centre, two one metre storage toolboxes, and LED lighting all around.

Sterling said: “Another ST440 Step Frame Trailer has recently been built and delivered to Star Platforms - and if you attended Vertikal Days, you may have already seen this one on show. With full width double-flip ramps and dural serrated mesh across the ramps, slope, and main deck - providing the grip and loading characteristics required for transporting powered access and other low-clearance machinery.”

Established in October 2014, Star Platforms runs a fleet of more than 4,000 aerial work platforms with 175 employees from its seven depots in Luton, Coalville, Reading, Thetford, Bridgwater, Tonbridge and Warrington plus another training centre in Luton, with company headquarters in Houghton Regis.
