UK scaffold collapse

A section of a façade scaffold collapsed earlier today in Banbury, Oxfordshire, injuring two of the nine people working on the site, one of them seriously.
The scene this morning

Both were transferred to the region’s Major Trauma hospital in Oxford, the most serious of them was airlifted by the Thames Valley Air Ambulance service. The other is reported to have suffered leg and head injuries.

A loader crane was seen to be loading one tonne bulk bags into the site an hour or two before the incident occurred. They can be seen in the photos we have. The site is a former fuel station car showroom that is being converted to 19 apartments a short walk from the city centre.

The HSE (Health & Safety Executive) was notified of the incident and has launched an investigation.
