UK rental companies Humberside Lifting Services and Levels Above Site Services are to merge under the joint ownership of Ben Bowers of Humberside and Russell Anderson of Levels Above.
The process began with Anderson acquiring the 50 percent stake in Levels Above that was owned by his business partner Neil Blakemore, who is leaving the company. This was followed by a merger with Humberside, in a group structure, with Anderson and Bowers as joint owners. The two companies will however, maintain their own branding.
Humberside Lifting Services is based in Scunthorpe and dates back to the 1980s, and was acquired at the end of 2024 by Ben and Malcolm Bowers. It offers a wide range safety equipment and lifting and rigging equipment, from material lifts to gantries, skates, jacks slings and tracked carriers etc., while its sales operation also offers everything from safety harnesses and material lifts to aerial work platforms.
Levels Above Site Services is based in Wakefield and was established by Anderson in March 2020, with Blakemore coming in later that year. The company now operates from two locations, having added a depot in Warrington in 2023. It runs a wider range of aerial work platforms from spider lifts to booms and scissors, as well as telehandlers and other equipment. Its latest results indicate a tangible net worth of £705,000 with a healthy working capital.

In a letter to Level Above customers, Russell Anderson said: “As a founding member of Levels Above, Neil has played a significant role in building the business into what it is today.”
“Over the past six years, his contribution, commitment and efforts have helped establish the foundations on which the company has grown, developing lasting customer relationships while building the reputation we have worked hard to establish within our industry.”
“Everyone at Levels Above would like to express their sincere thanks for his contribution and wish him every success and happiness in the next chapter of his life.”
“Over the coming months, we will work closely with Neil to ensure a detailed and structured handover of customer relationships, ongoing projects and business knowledge.”
“Alongside these changes, we are pleased to announce that, over the coming weeks, Levels Above Site Services Limited will be bringing its ownership together with Humberside Lifting Services, marking the return of Benjamin Bowers to the industry.”
“Under the new group structure, Russell Anderson and Benjamin Bowers will be joint owners of the group, bringing together their respective experience, knowledge and ambitions to develop the businesses further.”
“One of the immediate benefits will be our expanded geographical reach, with three locations: Wakefield, Warrington and, in the coming weeks, Scunthorpe, strengthening our regional coverage, and providing a more responsive service across a broader area”.
“Our ambition is to build on the strong foundations already established within both businesses, retaining the personal relationships and service standards that our customers value while introducing additional strength, experience and capacity to support future growth.”
