Another wipe out

The second big crane accident on Los Angeles freeway in less than five weeks occurred yesterday when the operator of a 165 ton All Terrain crane with trailing boom lost control of the vehicle. The crane a Demag owned by crane rental company Champion crane was heading south near Mission Hills.

According to witnesses, the 8-axle crane and trailer combination swerved across the highway and then flipped somersaulting down the road.

Amazingly no other vehicles were hit and the 27 year-old crane driver was released form hospital with minor lacerations and contusions.
