Saunders moves up at AFI

AFI-Uplift has appointed Richard Saunders as managing director as part of a management restructuring. Saunders has spent around 20 years in the powered access business a good deal of it with Nationwide Access where he worked closely with AFI chairman David Shipman.

He originally joined AFI as a regional director, progressing to operations director and general manager prior to his latest promotion.

Nick Higgins, a previous owner of Uplift and until now a regional director at AFI Uplift, moves to operations director, while the depot network has been formed into six operational regions.

Shipman said: “Since our previous management restructuring in late 2005 we have effectively doubled the size of our business in terms of rental fleet, annual turnover and team members, and as a result of this ongoing success it is now the right time to adapt our structure again. Richard’s promotion is a well deserved reward to recognise his outstanding contribution to the success of our business.”
