Telehandler fatality

A man was killed today and another seriously injured on a UK building site after what has been reported as a nine tonne JCB telescopic handler, tipped over sideways and its boom landed on the car the men were sitting in. A third man suffered minor injuries.

The accident occurred at 8:00am this morning at a residential building site on Broughton Road, Banbury, operated by Linden Homes, part of the Galliford Try group. The victim, said to be in his 30s, died at the scene while the injured were taken to Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigators are undertaking a joint inquiry with Thames Valley Police.
